The Cluj Court of Appeal accepted the appeal and completely changed the solution of sentencing to the prison sentence ordered by the trial court regarding the crimes of forming an organized criminal group and accepting bribes.
The case was opened in 2012 and was investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Cluj Court, including preventive measures. An arduous process then followed, the file being extremely complex and requiring numerous hearings, as well as specialist expertise.
The not guilty solution was ordered by the Cluj Court of Appeal in May 2023 pursuant to art. 16 lit. c Criminal Procedure Code.
Following the acquittal, the Appell Court also ordered the termination of the confiscation measure, as well as the restitution of the damage paid on the civil side.
